What is Morpheus 8 and how does it work?

RF (radiofrequency) micro needling is a cosmetic medical procedure that combines two increasingly popular skin rejuvenation techniques: micro needling and radiofrequency energy.

Micro needling, as the name suggests, involves the use of tiny, sterile needles to create microscopic punctures in the skin, thereby stimulating the body's natural healing processes and encouraging the production of collagen, a protein crucial to skin elasticity and firmness.

RF energy enhances this process by delivering heat into the deeper layers of the skin, further stimulating collagen and elastin production, reducing wrinkles, and tightening the skin.

This procedure is minimally invasive and it can help address a variety of skin issues, such as fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and acne scars, leading to improved skin texture and tone.

Increasing numbers of patients are looking for non-invasive ways of improving skin tone and texture with minimal downtime. Morpheus8 is the answer.

Treatment Summary

The Morpheus 8 can be used on all skin types except for the resurfacing tip which is only suitable for Fitzpatrick type 1-3. However, there are certain medical conditions or medications that could make Morpheus 8 an unsuitable treatment or increase the risk of side effects.

Prior to booking a Morpheus 8 treatment all clients require a consultation with one of our doctors, nurse or therapist. Your consultation involves a full skin and facial assessment and provides you the opportunity to discuss your area(s) of concern and expectations. You will also have clinical photography so we can monitor your treatment outcome and progress. We at B Cosmetics are committed to providing safe clinical care for our patients. Our consultation process is a very important step in tailoring a treatment plan specifically for you that is appropriate and safe, whilst addressing your concerns.

The Morpheus 8 treatment takes 15 to 45minutes depending on the treatment area. However, your total appointment time will be between 60 to 90 minutes to allow for pre-treatment application of local anaesthetic (numbing) cream.

The downtime from Morpheus 8 varies from 2 to 7 days. It is expected to have some redness, swelling and bruising after the treatment and small scabs may form in the treatment area.

Depending on your individualised Morpheus 8 plan and treatment area you will require between 1 to 3 treatments. Patients can choose to have 6 to 12 monthly single maintenance treatments.

There can be discomfort with the Morpheus 8 treatment. At B Cosmetics our patient’s comfort and safety is paramount and we use a prescription strength local anaesthetic (numbing) cream prior to treatment. Our experience is that after use of appropriate numbing the Morpheus 8 treatment is well tolerated.

Following treatment patient can experience erythema/redness, swelling, bruising and skin sensitivity for 1-3 days post treatment. Small scabs can form over the treatment area.

Some patients may experience textural changes to the skin such as fine dots (more common with superficial treatment and darker skin type) which will dissipate within 2-4 weeks on the face and 4-6 weeks on the body.

Prior to your treatment you will be provided with pre-treatment instruction to prepare your skin for treatment. You will be given a comprehensive after care instructions which will help minimise side effects and optimise your treatment results.
